This series brings together eight essays on land reform — from Britain's "Seizing the Moment" and "The Ownership of Land Value," to Taiwan's "Land to the Tiller" and "housing crisis," to Hong Kong's "2047 institutional rupture" and "cage home humanitarian crisis," to China's "urban villages" and the distribution black hole after land value capture, and to the global comparison of state land systems, the housing dignity of migrant workers, and the shared structural fiscal crisis facing almost every country.

The central question running through all essays is: who owns the value of land? This is not a technical question — it is a political question. Who has the power to decide who owns the value of land?

State Land Systems: Who Owns the Land, and Who Captures Its Value?
China, Israel, Singapore, Hong Kong, Sweden, Vietnam, Cuba — state land ownership is not an anomaly. It is a cross-system, cross-region, cross-development-stage practice. The real question is not who owns the land, but who decides how it is used and where the increment flows.

Core Argument

"How a society treats its land is how it treats its people."

All essays point to the same conclusion: the obstacle to land reform has never been technical — it has always been political. Whether it's Britain's aristocratic landowners, Taiwan's vested interest groups, Hong Kong's colonial legacy and extreme capitalism, China's urban village distribution deadlock, the Western silence on Israel's state land system, the global invisibility of migrant workers who build the city's splendor, or the shared delusion that every country's fiscal crisis is unique — the forces blocking the return of land value to the people are always the same: those who have grown rich from land and refuse to let its value serve the public interest.

Land justice means turning land from a commodity back into a resource, turning value appreciation from private capture into public return, and turning housing from class privilege into a basic human right.
